Can somebody give me some good advice, please? I used to ride a lot of bike races, but, for various reasons, it can’t really get out much now, so I’m considering building a racing track in my back yard. I don’t have much space – perhaps the size of half a tennis court – but I think I’ve heard of indoor tracks in Europe as small as 100 metres. So if this is to be just for one bike, will it be possible to train hard, for example such as riding an individual pursuit, on such a small track. It will work out to about 30 metres per lap. Also, as a further thought, out of what would one construct it? Wood, cement, just grass banks, and at what angles? Many thanks for any advice.
ok the problem is price but you could make a berm, as in motocross races, like the turns, but it would be just a bowl that you would go around and around, or i suggest that you buy one of these trainers and put it in front of a tv and you don’t have to go anywhere.

If i went on an exercise bike for 30 minutes a day, what does it help tone up?
Hello,
(ANS) Actually an exercise bike is a good piece of kit, because it works or exercises the following things:-
a) LEGS, KNEES, FEET.
b) BOTTOM or PELVIC AREA
c) Cardio-vascular work out i.e. gets your heart pumping
d) should make you breathless & swet & make you feel warm inside.
e) good for the lungs & increases blood oxygen levels.
Excellent way to improve stamina & overall health I’d say. This is why such bikes are used in gyms as a warm up routine.
Kind Regards Ivan

I have a broken tibia and fibula; I had surgery to get a rod put in the tibia, so it’s healing now. Once I have the green light to put weight on my bad leg, is Spinning an acceptable exercise? Swimming? Rowing?
I dont know about swimming or rowing, but
spinning is an excellent way to heal! Its one of the best things you can do! not only does it get you back in shape, but it builds all that leg muscle that I know is hard to get back from an injury.
just a word of advice though, make sure that your bike is adjusted to your body, that way it has no possible way of harming your leg.
I’m a ski racer, so i get injured ALOT. And i used biking as a way to help me get back in shape. My point is, is that it worked very very well for me and I am hoping that it will do the same for you!

this was my first full spinning class. I did great with keeping up and my legs are not in to much pain but my tailbone/butt just hurt. What am I doing wrong? Is this just a normal pain that will eventually go away with more classes?
The reason is you are putting a great deal of pressure on that point for a long duration of time. Especially, since you are grinding back and forth as you spin. I suggest going to WalMart or another place that sells gel filled bike seat covers and putting that on your spinning bike seat during your sessions. I use one on my regular bicycle seat and it helps a great deal.
