What are the benefits you would get from a spinning exercise class?

I want to tone my legs and build my endurance for ski season. Is spinning good for that? Pilates? anything else?

spinning is awesome…depends a lot on the instructor….make sure the class is at least 1 hour long….buy a heart rate monitor to make sure your getting a good workout.

My butt is sore from Spinning class. Will it happen again?

I have taken a spinning class many years ago and I loved it. I took one again today and I must have forgotten how sore it makes your ass. I swear I bruised the hell out of it! Its not totally painful, just sore as all hell. Anyone take spinning classes often? Does this happen after each class, or does it get better?

Since you haven’t done a class for awhile, it’s not surprising that you are finding it a bit sore.
Given time, and enough hours in the saddle, your butt muscles will tougthen up a bit, resulting in less discomfort.

Of course, there are some other issues to consider.

Like, is the bike saddle set up at the correct height & angle for you?
If it’s not set up correctly, there can be some discomfort. Ask the spinning instructor next time you take a class, to see if your bike fit looks okay, and how to adapt the bike to suit you.

What clothes do you wear?
Clothing which have thick seams in your lower region, can chaff a bit. Bike shorts (with padding, worn with no underwear of course!) might be something to consider if the problem persists. Though, seamless underwear & leggings, should suffice.

DAY 45 – 2nd Spinning class for the day – SELF STUDY!

I hooked up my MP3 player to my sub and speakers and rocked out to my CUSTOM MUSIC MIX for 55 minutes at LA FITNESS. I was hitting a heart rate high of 170bpm and maintained 140bpm – 150 bpm for the duration of the session!

This is DAY 45 of my 90 day work out program and I’ve already dropped 25 pounds and I’m on target to lose another 25 pounds in the next 45 days thanks to my discovery of SPINNING classes!

Lower back pain after spinning class?

On Tuesday I took a spinning class (my third one), and shortly after I had bad lower back pain. It’s now friday and it is still bothering me… It doesn’t feel like it’s muscles, it’s in the middle of my back, right above my butt. It’s kind of a burning constant pain. It’s worse when sitting or when I stand up or sit down.

Has anyone experienced this or know what it may be?

Also, any home remedies to make this better? I have a desk job and it’s really hard to sit still at work with this!

Sounds like you may have a buldging disc or "slipped disc" You may want to try this, stand up with your feet shoulder width apart and bend back, if you feel the pain right in the middle and not to any certain side then you should go to the ground and do about six push-ups while keeping your lower body on the ground, kind of like a cobra stretch. Then stand up and see if the pain has decreased. If it has it is most likely a disc buldge. If this is the case the bad part is that you sit during your job and any time my loose the curve in your lower back you push that buldge out farther. So what you have to do is get a rolled up bath towel to keep the curve in your lower back when you sit. You have to keep that curve as much as possible and do 10 of those push-ups every hour. Why have I gotten bigger after spinning class?

I exercise regularly, and eat very healthy. Anyway after spinning I noticed that my butt is bigger, and my stomach is harder. My stomach didn’t get flatter, just harder. Is this normal?

muscle? it may take time to get rid of flab, all of sudden, it will probs just disappear!

exacttly THATS WHY IT GOT HARDER,,,,, MUSCLE?
muscle burns energy quicker than fat, so if you have more muslce you can afford to eat more food with high energy!
