What would break the tension cable in an exercise bike?

My mom’s exercise bike which is pretty much brand new is broken (the tension won’t work so I’m assuming the tension cable is broken) What causes this to break? She is blaming me and my friends but I don’t think we did it. Anyone know what causes the cable to break?
The cable shouldn’t break unless someone was applying a lot of pressure. Check the manual in the trouble shooting section. It should be under warranty. It could be as simple as the cable slipped in the clamp.
I might be going out on a limb here but I’m guessing to much tension. could be it wasn’t set up correctly originally, might have been to much slack and came apart, don’t think you could actually break the cable unless someone was really trying. If it’s new you should have a owners manual for it and it should point you in the right direction of what to do. They probably have a web site that might help also. Worst comes to worst throw one of your friends under the buss, if it’s a good friend they should be willing to take one for the team.

well being too manly could cause it to snap. you just made it feel so inferior that it couldn’t take the shame and broke. alternately, you could have been proving you manliness on the bike and you were far to powerful for it to handle.
