Spinning a 460lb sportbike on it’s kickstand

I just learned this about 15 minutes ago from watching 88Hawaii do it. I need to work on tilting the bike a bit more towards me, and work on footwork. This is not too difficult and I got it on the first try. I’m Still pertty sloppy though.

If you can get in to a space you can get out of a space, otherwise you should not be on the road. I’d rather walk a bike backwards that spin it and risk dropping it and looking like a twat.

    Think about it. …
Think about it. It’s useful in a lot of ways with a sport bike. Example, you pull into a parking space, you can pivot it so it’s facing the outward way, so you don’t have to risk getting hit backing up, when you can see when you pull outward… Starting to make sense?

This is a good video, but i strongly recommend changing where you grab the bike. Hold the rear hand rail and the other handlebar. The stand does all the work. You hardly need muscle once the bike is up off its wheels. Also if the bike is starting to fall your way its much easier to correct this by pushing. Also my feet are never that close to the bike so im more sturdy. This videos technique is a little dangerous. I spin a Hornet 600 (honda 599 yank terms.)

    Good stuff.

Hey, nice vid. Any chance the kick stand will dig a hole in the garage floor? Would love to do this on my CBR 600

Yeah, I have seen people do it with all kinds of bikes, I dont think it will be an issue. Your ‘Can-O-Tuna’ should be fine.

I don’t think there’s any danger. My mechanic does it all the time and has been doing it for many years on all kinds of bikes including his own. He said he’s never had one bend or break.

dude thanks for this vid, i couldnt find any others explaining how this is done, is there a chance that the kick stand could break of bend? i have a katana, and that is about 480 pounds. im not sure if my kickstand can handle that amount of weight.

    Well, I try to …
Well, I try to adjust the angle of the brakes and clutch downwards, so my wrist isn’t bent upwards, and the top of my wrist is flat and in-line with my forearm. That helps a lot. Also, I like to take my hands off the bars when I’m at a stoplight to give my wrists a break.
